So the Mayans got it wrong, the world did not collapse on itself and we live to see another day. Not to be an alarmist but it could still happen, the world is already crumbling, maybe not with John Cusack leading the way, but slowly the cracks are starting to show.
I love travelling the globe, every corner, every pocket, every panoramic scene and taking in as much of the beautiful human lives we've created from the food we've cooked, the experiences, the cultures we've developed, the music, the communities, the ways of life that know envelops atop this earth. Although sometimes I do think humans take it for granted, existence on the only life sustaining planet in any known universe.
A friend once mentioned - 'its fallacy to think that humans are separate from the rest of the animal kingdom or the natural world, that we can live independently of that around us'. As though the way we continue to live won't hurt us in the end, we are ultimately harming ourselves, creating a dominance over the environment and other species that we live amongst and allowing them to suffer at our hands.
Don't get me wrong I am all for progress, I love a good drive in my car, shopping for hours for useless things, having my laptop, TV and phone all consuming electricity at the same time, my life is far from that of an organic hippy, although not at the cost of the world around us.
I am not making you conform to any of my views, only to take an interest and get informed and I could not ask anymore of you. But be forewarned I speak well of sustainability and doing right by mother earth. I only hope to bring light to the issue, by living a life outside and discovering the balance. Come for a walk and journey the earth.
In the words of Louis Armstrong "Love is the secret", let yourself care.
Let me clarify, Lets give a shit. Even if it is a just a little one.
